- Special Education Updates (Reminders and any "new" information to keep your eyes on)
- Assistive Technology Partnership: This 90-minute workshop gives school professionals a hands-on introduction to how assistive technology (AT) can support students with disabilities in reading and writing. Together, we’ll explore what AT is, why it matters, and how it connects to accessibility and Accessible Educational Materials (AEM). Participants will try out a variety of tools—from simple supports to more advanced options—and discuss how these can remove barriers and open up opportunities for students. The session will also include time for conversation, reflection, and questions so that everyone leaves with practical ideas they can take back to their classrooms and teams.
- IEPs with Heart: Creating the Conditions for Collaborative IEP Meetings!
Presenters Joe Haney & Jessica Shepard will guide participants in the exploration of key strategies for establishing an environment that encourages open communication and collaboration during IEP meetings. We'll examine the importance of trust, mutual respect, and shared goals, and discuss how to create a welcoming space where all voices are heard. Best practices for preparing for IEP meetings, setting expectations, and fostering a positive atmosphere will also be covered.
This training is ideal for all those who participate in IEP meetings, general educators, administrators, special educators, and many more!
