Description | | Presenter: Kristine Allphin
Topic: Batik
This one day workshop will give you the opportunity to create a traditional batik on cotton muslin. We will explore techniques, dyes, traditional tools and create at least one two-color batik. We will learn about the rich history of this ancient textile.
Kristine's education and experience in illustration and composition bring an original style, sensitivity, and craftsmanship to her batik work. She has won numerous awards and exhibitions including Stuhr Museum and Nebraska Arts Council and Museum of Nebraska Art. She was featured in the April 2016 issue of Art and Architecture Magazine as an emerging artist to watch. Her work has been purchased for use on Hollywood movie sets, corporations, hospitals and private collectors as far away as Canada and Sri Lanka.
All materials will be provided. Participants will be able to complete a two-color batik on muslin. A small starter packet of dyes, wax, muslin and tools will be available for teachers to purchase and take home. |
