In this session, participants will explore why an intentional onboarding experience is essential for gifted learners and their families. Too often, learners qualify for gifted services and begin their journey with little understanding of what giftedness is, what it is not, and what to expect moving forward. When clarity is absent, assumptions take its place, and misunderstandings can shape a learner’s identity, expectations, and experience in gifted education.
Using the Gifted Onboarding Framework, we will examine how educators can create meaningful entry points that foster understanding, connection, and success from day one. Grounded in the four pillars of Clarity, Community, Content, and Challenge, this framework provides a practical approach for helping gifted learners and their families navigate the gifted journey with confidence and purpose.
Participants will leave with actionable strategies, resources, and ideas that can be adapted for any campus or district. Whether you are launching a new gifted program or strengthening an existing one, this session will help you move beyond paperwork and procedures to create an onboarding experience that ensures gifted learners feel seen, supported, appropriately challenged, and connected to a community that understands their unique needs.
