Please Note: In order to take this course for 1 hour college credit, participants must also attend Dead Presidents and Whales/Revving Up Read Alouds on May 25 OR Read Well, Write Well on May 26.

Please Note: In order to take this course for 2 hours college credit, participants must attend all 3 days of Donalyn Miller's workshops.


Based on survey data from 900 adult readers and assessments from her middle school students, Donalyn Miller identifies the characteristics of wild readers and shares methods that support students’ development into lifelong readers. During this session, attendees will reflect on their reading lives, discuss the classroom, library, and home conditions that foster wild reading, and examine texts and tools that engage young readers and move them toward independent reading lives.

Persons taking this course for college credit will also be charged the ESU 9 registration fee.
