Description | | This workshop will demonstrate practical and immediately "useable" strategies for engaging students in doing what it is that actual historians do. We will practice strategies for getting students to read like historians and think like historians using readily available resources, ranging from primary documents to textbooks. Emphasis will be on helping students develop the skill of close reading as access point to the critical thinking skills historians use to make sense of the past. Be ready for a fast, interactive day that will yield strategies and materials that will fit your classroom.
