Presenter: Dr. Barb Blanke, Quality Teacher Development

Developing computational fluency with fractions is a major goal of grades 3-6 math, but it is also important that students understand fraction concepts and that they are able to apply their understanding to solve math problems. Join us for a fun day of exploring fractions through investigations, models, problems, games, and lots of math talk!

We will…

…explore varied models that allow students to visualize and make sense of fractions concepts.

…discover simple investigations that help students discover rules about fraction computations.

…identify critical questions and engaging tasks that get students thinking and talking about fractions.

…play interactive math games that strengthen students’ fraction skills and can be used as partner tasks or at math centers.

…discover strategies to help students comprehend and solve fraction word problems.

Join us to gather strategies, activities, and insights that will energize and enhance your math teaching and help your students develop a deep understanding of fractions.
