DescriptionStudents who engage with content achieve academic goals and contribute to a positive classroom culture. How can educators best use available tools to engage ALL students? Workshop participants will explore tools to create and add audio, video, animation, screencast and image elements to lessons, explore gamification to boost engagement and adapt existing templates to showcase evidence of learning. Teachers will apply their learning to adapt existing lessons to boost student engagement and support the instructional model in place in their school.

One recent Gallup study including 128 schools and more than 110,000 students found that student engagement and hope were significantly positively related to student academic achievement progress (growth) in math, reading, and all subjects combined, along with postsecondary readiness in math and writing. (Oct 30, 2019)

To increase student engagement to positively impact student achievement, educators in this course will:

* Explore and create instructional resources using audio, video, animation, screencasting, image and text tools to increase student engagement.
* Examine and create digital resources through the lens of equity and inclusion to increase student engagement.
* Create public collections of engaging instructional resources to share through each educators professional learning network

*1 Credit available through Hastings College, $220/credit hour.
**Must attend both days
