Developing Music Curriculum to meet the needs of the new Every Student Succeeds Act
Music Education in American has been transforming and with the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act, there are more demands and opportunities for music educators. How we design our K-12 music curriculum will be equally important in order for us to meet the recently revised National and State music standards.
Elizabeth Sokolowski is Head of the Music Education Division of the School of Music at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pa. She is responsible for the curricular components of the Music Education Program, and teaches graduate-level courses in K-12 Music, Curriculum Design, Assessment, Music Pedagogy and Methodology, and Music Technology.
In addition to her role at the University of the Arts, Sokolowski presents at state and national music conferences and provides professional development and in-service sessions for music educators on Current Trends in Music Education, Music Technology Integration, Curriculum Design and Development, and 21st Century Learning and Creativity in Music Education.
We will greatly benefit from her knowledge and direction in helping us move music education forward in our area. Please consider attending this opportunity to learn and grow as professional music educators. |
