DescriptionTransition assessment is a required component and effective tool for transition planning. With active involvement from students and collaboration with teachers, counselors, VR and other work-related experiences, meaningful postsecondary goals can be developed based on students’ assessed needs and preferences related to work, education, training and independent living, including community involvement. The conference will provide:
-Nebraska career education strategies to bridge the gap between schools and employers, AQuESTT
-An overview of concepts and types of transition assessments
-A demonstration in the use of transition assessments in the areas of working, learning and living
-Training in the use of transition assessments to write postsecondary goals, annual IEP goals, identify transition services, and partner with families in transition planning
